The Faith Athletic Department hosted another successful camp season, as over 200 coaches and athletes descended on to campus during June for the Eagles annual Hot Shots, Spikefest, and Hoopstars camps. The camps, designed to introduce the fundamentals of soccer, volleyball, and basketball to 3rd and 4th graders and then build on those fundamentals for 5th-7th graders are a fun time for coaches and campers alike.
In partnership with the city of Ankeny’s Parks and Recreation department, Faith’s current, former, and future players and coaches take several weeks to provide these camps to the residents of Ankeny and the surrounding area.
The Hot Shots soccer camp kicks off the camp season. Participants spend time in individual and small sided competitions designed to introduce and improve their fundamentals of the game. Following Hot Shots camp, nearly 100 volleyball fanatics filled up the Convocation Center for a week of volleyball skills and drills. For six hours a day, coaches teach campers through a variety of games and skill’s stations designed to increase their knowledge of the game. Closing out the camping season is the Hoopstars basketball camp. Over 100 boys and girls participated in this year’s camp. Through station work, shooting competitions, 3 on 3, and 5 on 5 leagues, campers learned proper shot form, defensive stance, passing, and many other fundamentals of the game.
The Athletic Department would like to thank each of the coaches and participants for another fun filled camp season. We look forward to serving you again next summer!
