Frerichs to Play for Eagles

Ankeny, IA. — Faith Baptist Bible College head men's soccer coach Gary Backous on Monday announced the signing of Joseph Frerichs for the 2014 season. Frerichs is the first member to sign for the Eagles' 2014 recruiting class.

Joseph is the son of Steve and Kelley Frerichs, who are Faith grads and missionaries in Lima, Peru. Joseph was homeschooled, playing club soccer while growing up in Peru. His love for soccer started at age four, and led him to a successful youth career within the youth division of USMP, a club program in Lima, Peru. During his playing career, Joseph consistently played up a year on his club teams, until his final season, when he competed on the U-18 team. That team finished first in the accumulated tournament, earning more points than any other team. Joseph received recognition from his club team, as he was awarded the Best Teammate in 2012 and Model Player of the USMP in 2013.

"Joseph is a superb soccer player," Backous said. "He's played every position, and is one of the most talented player's I will have ever had the privilege to coach. We're really excited to have Joseph attend Faith and be a part of our soccer program. "

Joseph plans to major in Missions while attending Faith.
