Buena Vista Overwhelms Eagles

The Eagles struggled both offensively and defensively during their recent trip to Storm Lake, IA against Buena Vista University.  BV was able to dominate possession and create a number of early chances before scoring goals in the 12th and 16th minute.   Faith was able to regroup and make a number of counterattacking runs at Buena Vista after that but were not able to score.  The best chance of the first half came when Freshman Tui Hunkin hit a tremendous free kick from nearly 40 yards from goal that forced a tough save for the Beaver's goalkeeper.  BV was able to get a third goal and keep the Eagles scoreless at the break.

Faith started the second half much better as they were able to even out the possession battle and eventually get a goal in the 50th minute as (Jr) JJ Parkhurst made a quick turn and shot from 25 yards out off an assist from Hunkin.  The Eagles had moments of very good transition and possession soccer, but the second half was plagued with defensive breakdowns and mental errors.  BV applied a great deal of pressure and overwhelmed the Eagles leading to three more goals in the second half and walking away with a 6-1 victory.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 5-2-1.  Their next match is Friday, 9/26 in the final home match of the year against Emmaus Bible College (Dubuque, IA).
