The Faith Baptist Bible College (1-4) women's basketball team home hosted Manhattan Christian College (2-1) on Friday night and Barclay College (0-2) on Saturday afternoon of this past weekend. The Lady Eagles dropped both games to their conference opponents, and are now 1-4 on the year and 0-2 in conference play.
Faith was without their starting point guard Jenna Bean for the weekend, and struggled in the Manhattan game to get anything going as Manhattan's pressure defense was just too much for the young squad. Manhattan started the game on a 25-2 run. Freshman Kellie Warne was able to get a couple of buckets to get the Lady Eagles some points in the first half. Faith ended the first half down 12-31. In the second half, Faith was able to put up another 12 points, but unable to close the gap as Manhattan rotated players in and out. Faith worked hard, and never gave up, but fell 24-64. The Eagles were led in scoring by Shelby Whitcomb, and Becca Saatmann with 8 points each. Whitcomb and Amber McCool led the team in rebounds with 6 each.
For the second game of the weekend, Faith was without two of their regular starters, but was able to compete throughout the game. Freshman Ashley Pearson' s 8 first half points was a spark as she started for the first time in her college career. Barclay was able to convert of off Faith's turnovers to take a halftime lead of 17-37. The Eagles did a much better job in the second half as the only lost the second half 22-24. The Eagles were led in scoring by Becca Saatmann with 9 points. Ashley Pearson led the team with 10 rebounds.
Faith's next two games are on the road in Ellendale, North Dakota. On November 30th Faith will face a region opponent Trinity Bible College. That game will tip off at 6:00 PM. The next day, December 1, the Eagles will take on region opponent Providence University College. That game will tip off at 12:00 PM.
