The Faith Baptist Bible College women's basketball team finished off their first semester with a pair of road losses to move to 1-11 on the year. The Eagles traveled to Omaha, NE on Friday, December 14th to face Grace University. Grace won the game 84-31. On Saturday, December 15th, the Eagles traveled to Plymouth, MN to face AFLBS. AFLBS won the game 58-48.
The Eagles started off the game strong against Grace, and held an 8-6 lead. Things quickly began to slide for the Eagles as their team's leading scorer and point guard Jenna Bean went down with a game ending knee injury. Faith was down 41-20 to end the first half. Grace was able to pull away and shoot 47 % for the game as they won the second half 43-11. Faith was led in scoring by Becca Saatmann with six points. Shelby Whitcomb led Faith in assists with five. Ashley Pearson led Faith in rebounds with seven.
Faith's game Saturday was a better showing though still without their teams point guard and leading scorer. Shelby Whitcomb stepped up as she had a season high 11 points. Faith was able to stay neck and neck with AFLBS for most of the game. Faith was down 23-29 at halftime. Faith only lost the second half 25-29. Faith had four players with four fouls each and sent AFLBS to the line 31 times to Faith's 13 times which was a major factor in the game. Faith was led in scoring and rebounding by Kelsey Grider with a season high 18 points, and a season high 13 rebounds. Hannah Nichols had a season high four steals.
Faith now heads to Christmas break, and their next matchup will be in Lincoln, NE on January 15. They will be facing Union College. That game will tip off at 5:00 PM.
