The Lady Eagle's Soccer team dropped their game with visiting NCAA 3 school Eureka College 2-3 in the second overtime on Saturday. The loss drops the Eagles to 1-3-1 on the year.
Eureka got on the board first, scoring eight minutes into the first half. That goal woke the Eagles up, as Faith would tie the game up 10 minutes later on a Holly Shepard goal. Faith continued to pressure the Eureka defense, finally breaking through again as Missy Jones found the back of the net for the 2-1 lead 35 minutes into the first half. Faith had several opportunities during the remainder of the first half, but couldn't capitalize, with the score a 2-1 Faith lead at the break. Eureka came out strong to start the second half, knotting the game at two apiece with a goal 11 minutes into the half. Faith continued to create chances but simply couldn't connect, and the game headed to overtime, tied at two apiece. Neither team could seem to grab an advantage in the first overtime, with Eureka only able to manage one shot, while the Eagles could not muster any shots. In the second overtime, it was Eureka that was finally able to end the game, as they put a run together, ending with a nice shot which ended up in the back of the net for the win just 54 second into the second overtime.
Faith outshot Eureka 13-8 on the day. The Eagles are back in action at home on Wednesday, September 17, at 2:00 PM. The Eagles will face Iowa Wesleyan College in that match.
