Women's Soccer Drops Close Contest to Eureka

The Faith women's soccer team traveled to Eureka, IL this past Friday to take on NCAA III opponent Eureka College.  The Lady Red Devils came out firing shots right from the start of the game and managed to outshoot the Lady Eagles 15-7 in the first half. Eureka was able to keep possession for a majority of the first half. Eureka's first goal of the match came early at the 3 minute mark.  Eureka would extend their lead to 2-0 at the 30 minute mark in the first half. Just 30 seconds later though Jessica Frerichs was able to pull the Lady Eagles to within one goal by scoring her first college career goal. The first half would end 2-1 in Eureka's favor.

The second half was much the same story as the shots were 11-7 in favor of Eureka. Neither team would score in the second half as a lot of rain fell and made it difficult for either team to create many great scoring chances. Goalkeeper Krissy Nelson had seven saves on the day, and played an overall great match for the Lady Eagles but Faith would fall 2-1 to Eureka.

The ladies then traveled to Lincoln, IL on Saturday to take on NAIA opponent Lincoln Christian University.  Lincoln came out pressuring Faith right away in the first half. Their pressure paid off as they were able to score two goals in the first half. Despite the pressure from Lincoln, Faith had a few opportunities in their attack, but Lincoln's defense did a nice job defending them. Lincoln would take a 2-0 lead into half time.

Despite Faith playing better in the second half, Lincoln was able to put three more goals in. Faith had better chances to score in the second half, but came up empty on all their attempts. Lincoln would win the game 5-0.

The Lady Eagles will look to build on their play next Tuesday vs. Iowa Wesleyan University.
