The #5 ranked Lady Eagles soccer team landed yet another win on the road over the weekend. On Saturday, October 7, they traveled to Topeka, KS for a rematch with Manhattan Christian College. In the first meeting earlier in the season, the Eagles easily defeated Manhattan 8-1, but Faith wouldn't repeat such a dominating performance in this contest. Cancelled practices due to weather, an eleven day break since their previous game, and players starting in different positions were all influential factors as the Lady Eagles took to the turf on Saturday against the Thunder. The Eagles scored just one goal during the first 40 minutes of play. Laura Christiansen connected with Abby Zollinger off a corner kick to make the score to 1-0. Just before halftime, Jessica Freirichs connected with Allison Yuan to take the Eagles up 2-0 going into the 2nd half.
Faith would score again early in the second half when Jessica Frerichs sent the ball into the center where Allison Yuan was ready yet again to get a hit on it, making it 3-0. The Eagles' fourth goal came after the ball bounced between the Manhattan goalie and defender and then fell nicely in front of the goal where Allison was ready to score, receiving yet another hat trick! Manhattan had several shots on goal, but nothing that could get past goalkeeper Aubree Smith, as she finished with 7 saves in the game. Backup goalie Michaela Crider also had 2 saves on goal.
The Eagles improved their season record to 6-2, extending their winning streak to 5 games. They are back at home this weekend with games against Grace University (Omaha, NE) on Friday and Randall University (Moore, OK) on Saturday.
