The Faith Lady Eagle's volleyball team swept a pair of MCCC conference road matches this past weekend defeating Central Christian College of the Bible 3-1 and St. Louis Christian 3-0. The victories currently leave Faith in second place with a 5-1 MCCC conference record. "It was good to win on the road and be able to give playing time to those individuals who come in every day and give the same sacrifices as the starters," noted Nihart.
Faith experienced some trouble in the second set against CCCB losing 25-21. The Eagles got off to a terribly slow start down by as many as 10 points. Better defensive effort assisted with CCCB turnovers eventually led to an Eagle win. "We really wanted to play well after the dissappointing loss to Union at home last Tuesday. We are still adjusting to that loss and it showed on Friday." mentioned Nihart.
On Saturday the Eagles easily handled last place St. Louis Christian. Coach Nihart was able to start several role players and give some important breaks to the starters. " I thought our role players did a good job during the match. It is very difficult to learn a new rotation and still be effective. It was great seeing them execute just like the starters. We take the mentality no matter which six are on the floor we have the same expectations," noted Nihart.
The Eagles now must meet the most demanding week to date of their season. On Tuesday they host Emmaus Bible College from Dubuque, Iowa, a team they earlier defeated 3-2. The Eagles then travel to Joplin, Missouri to take on conference foe Ozark Christian College who is currently 3rd in the MCCC conference. They then complete their road trip Saturday by taking on Hillsdale Free Will Baptist of Oklahoma City and host Calvary Bible College of Grandview, Missouri. "We have a huge week ahead. Two tough non-conference matches against Emmaus and Hillsdale and critical conference match ups with Ozark and Calvary. This is the one week we will see just how much fight our team has in them and which will likely determine if we have a winning season, " noted
