Women's Volleyball Team on a Roll

The 2014 Faith Eagle's volleyball season has been a historic one for the Lady Eagles. Coach Lanny Nihart, in his 30th season, once again has his team playing at the top of their game as they enter post-season play. In historic fashion, the Eagles have spent the entire season ranked in the NCCAA Top 10, have a new career and season assist leader in captain Stephanie Knupp, and finished out the season with junior JoJo Hodak setting a new record for consecutive serves. Faith now turns their sights to championship play, hoping to secure conference, regional, and national championships in the coming weeks.

Faith will begin their post-season at the MCCC Tournament in Moberly, MO. Faith enters the tournament as the #3 seed behind NCCAA #3 Ozark Christian College and #4 Manhattan Christian College. The Eagles will open play in the quarter finals against Emmaus Bible College at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 24. The Eagles have defeated Emmaus three times this season. A win in the quarterfinal will place the Eagles in the semi-final match against #2 seeded Manhattan Christian College. Faith faced Manhattan one time this season during the Eagles annual Spikefest Tournament. Althought they played Manhattan close, Faith fell in straight sets 3-0 in that match. A loss will send the Eagles to the third place game, a win will vault the Eagles into the championship game, likely against #1 seeded Ozark Christian College. Detailed tournament information can be found here.

After that weekend, the team will return home to host the 2014 NCCAA II North Central Regional Volleyball Tournament on October 28 and 29. Faith opens the tournament as the #2 seed, and will face #3 seed North Central University on October 28 at 7:30 PM in the Nettleton Center. A win would place the Eagles in the championship against either #1 seeded Providence University College or #4 seeded Trinity Bible College. Faith defeated Trinity and North Central this season (3-0, 3-1), and split with Providence, defeating the Pilots 3-1 at home and losing to them 1-3 at North Central's tournament. Detailed tournament information can be found here.

The Eagles will finish out their post season at one of two National Tournaments. Should the Eagles win the regional tournament or receive an at large bid to the NCCAA National Tournament, they will travel to Kissimmee, FL the week of November 10-15. A trip to the ACCA National Tournament in Joplin, MO will be the destination should the Eagles fall in the regional tournament or fail to receive and at large bid to the NCCAA National Tournament.
