ANKENY, Iowa--The Faith Eagles have released their 2018 schedule for women's volleyball.

The Eagles return two All-Conference players from last year's team that finished 18-17, winning five of their last eight contests.

The 2018 schedule contains a good balance of NAIA, NCAA Division III, and NCCAA Division II opponents.  It will be a difficult test for what appears to be a very young 2018 Eagle squad which projects to have no senior or junior players.

"Coach Erin Davis and myself will be pressed to help returning players fill new roles due to a number of graduations and non-returning players from a solid 2017 roster," said Coach Lanny Nihart.

The 2018 season begins with Faith hosting the annual Spikefest Tournament which includes 2017 National Champion Maranatha Baptist University and other 2017 NCCAA National Tournament participants.  The Spikefest Tournament is viewed by many in the NCCAA as a premium tournament.  "It always provides coaches and players early insight to the strengths and weaknesses of our team to work on during the upcoming season," said Nihart.

The Eagles will also participate in the North Central University Invitation which will provide additional tough NAIA and NCAA Division III contests.

Homecoming will feature a new opponent, Kansas Christian College, which will be in its first year of collegiate volleyball competition.  Conference play begins against rival Emmaus Bible College, who defeated the Eagles in the championship match of the 2017 MCCC tournament.  This contest will quickly identify how competitive the Eagles will be for the 2018 regular season and tournament titles.

"We are excited to be hosting the 2018 NCCAA Regionals at Faith this year," said Coach Nihart.  "While our Athletic Department will find additional responsibilities, it is generally an advantage to our Faith teams to be playing on their home courts!"
