The Lady Eagles improved to 2-1 in the MCCC tonight with a sweep of visiting Barclay College (Haviland, KS). Faith is now 8-6 overall on the season and has won four games in a row.
Game one found the Lady Eagles controlling the game from beginning to end as they jumped up 16-8 enroute to a 25-13 victory. Barclay never threatened in the match, but the Eagles did suffer a loss as setter Stephanie Knupp re-injured her knee. Set two started out even, with Barclay managing an early 4-2 lead. Faith responded out of a timeout to retake the lead and never looked back, winning game two 25-17. Set three remained tight for the first several points, with Faith holding a slim 10-7 lead. Senior Rikki Powell then served three points in a row to give Faith a 13-7 lead and force a Barclay timeout. Faith continued to build the lead out of the timeout, increasing the lead to 16-8, and effectively ending the game, as they want on to win by a final of 25-19 with everyone in uniform getting a chance to play in game 3.
Junior Julia Bray and Senior Ariel Dicks led the Eagles with nine kills and seven respectively. Natlie Bunjer added three aces, while Rikki Powell had 15 digs and JoJo Hodak added 10. Stephanie Knupp still recorded 20 aces despite playing injured in games two and three.
Faith turns around with a tough road triangular on Saturday, as they will travel to Waldorf College to take on Haskell Indian Nations and Waldorf in Forest City, IA. Faith's first game tips at 2:30 PM against Haskell, followed by a 4:00 PM contest with host Waldorf.
