Late Rally Falls Short For Lady Eagles
WATERTOWN, Wisconsin— A depleted backcourt for the Faith Eagles took its toll on Tuesday's trip to Wisconsin. Faith was missing its third-leading scorer and co-captain Makenna Laib and key reserve Kayla Stephens. Early foul trouble for star point guard Mikayla Jones further complicated the task as Faith fell 61-54.
Faith had the upper-hand early on, leading by two points at the end of the first quarter. Tina Harms was efficient on offense, getting up eight early points for the Eagles. The second quarter got away from Faith as Jones, who had two quick fouls, spent most of the quarter on the bench. Faith was outscored 24-12 in the frame—the only quarter of the game they were outscored in.
The Eagles rallied and trailed by one with just 2:52 to play, but crucial go-ahead shots for the ladies just didn't seem to land quite right. A total of 27 turnovers and 3-of-15 three point shooting were two of Faith's detriments in the outcome.
Tina Harms continued her fine play for the Eagles, finishing with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Mikayla Jones fought through foul trouble and still managed a 21-point performance.
With the loss the Eagles fell to 14-8 on the season. They play their next game at Central Christian College of the Bible on Friday, February 10, starting at 5:30 p.m.
