Lundberg Steps Down from Women's Soccer Post
Lady Eagles soccer coach Shon Lundberg has announced his resignation from the women's soccer program. Lundberg has accepted the call to be pastor of Community Bapitst Church in Ankeny, IA. Shon will conclude his duties as the Dean of Students and Women's Soccer Coach at Faith on Friday, March 22, 2013.
Lundberg took over the helm of the Lady Eagle's team in 2011, and had an immediate impact. Lundberg's team finished both seasons with the second most wins in school history. The Lady Eagles advanced to the regional championship game in his first season as coach, earning the right to play in that championship after an exciting shootout win over host Providence University College. Lundberg also helped the Lady Eagle's earn their first All American selection when Laura Fowler was selected at the conclusion of the 2011-2012 season.
"Shon has done a tremendous job as the women's coach. Our teams grew spiritually and competitively each year, and he has set a high standard to follow. We'll miss his leadership but are thrilled for the new ministry the Lord has provided for him," noted Director of Athletics Brian Fincham. Lundberg leaves as the second winningest coach in school history. A search will begin immediately for his replacement.
