Men's Basketball Reaches Century Mark in Win over Warriors
Ankeny, IA -- Faith men's basketball earned their tenth win of the season in a high-scoring affair that saw three Eagles score 20+ points, while the team scored over 100 for the fourth time this year.
Despite seeing several good scoring opportunities from the tip, Faith found themselves in an 8-3 point deficit early. The Eagles traded baskets and a quick five points from Mason Gorsh brought the game within two with 14 minutes left in the first half. The Eagles kept rolling as Sam Kirkman entered the game and hit five straight 3's to kickstart a 28-10 run for Faith over the next several minutes. Faith went on another run to end the half, and went into the break leading 42-56.
The Eagles kept their scoring pace out of the break, with Mason Gorsh, Asa LaFleur, and Landon Brahs combining for 15 points in the first five minutes of the half. Faith forced 12 second half turnovers, and held their opponent to 25% shooting from the field in the second frame as they allowed the fewest points in a half this season. The Eagles kept scoring and rolled to the 101-62 victory against Union, earning their 10th win of the season in the process.
The trio of Landon Brahs (30 pts), Mason Gorsh (26 pts), and Sam Kirkman (21 pts) combined for 77 of the team's 101 points. Quensy Ferguson dished out seven assists, followed by Gorsh, who added six assists and five steals. The Eagles reached several new season bests in the win, including: team offensive rebounds (23), tied season high ft% (85.7), fewest points allowed in a half (20), as they scored more than 100 points for the fourth time this year.
