Women's Basketball Earns First Win on the Road
Plymouth, MN -- Faith women's basketball led by as many as 28 points on the way to their first win of the season against FLBC.
The Conquerors scored first on Tuesday, winning the the tip and hitting a jumper on their first possession. From there the Eagles went on a 23-6 run through the rest of the first quarter. Scoring slowed down in the second quarter as the Eagles struggled to excecute offensively, but their defense led by high energy from Aksana Chromy only allowed 17 first half points and Faith went into the break leading by 15.
Faith came out of the break with higher intensity and excecution, having had a chance to make adjustments and talk through their gameplan for the second half. The Eagles recorded nine steals and knocked down five of their seven made threes in the second half as they quickly added to their lead over the Conquerors. Katie Costello scored 10 of the team's fourth quarter points and the Eagles walked away with their most points and the first win of the season.
Katie Costello led all scoring with 23 points, Miriam Beenken and Soleil Ashley followed with 16 and 13 points respectively. Costello added 6 steals and 8 rebounds, and the Eagles forced 15 turnovers on the day.
