Faith entered the weekend riding their first win streak of the year, with back-to-back wins against CCCB (61-43) and Union (45-30). The Eagles struggled to get any momentum in their weekend games, as the Warriors shot a stifling 60% from the field and 50% from deep on Friday. The Eagles had consistent scoring through each quarter, running their offense through Katie Costello (19 pts/5 ast), Mirelli Fritz (11 pts), and Soleil Ashley (10 pts). Despite their best efforts, Calvary's offense took over in the second half and the Warriors ran away with the win.
Saturday saw a similar start, as the Eagles continued to search for footing against #3 ranked Ozark. The bright spot for the weekend came in the second half, as Faith came out with energy and played their best 20 minutes of the week. The Eagles outscored their opponent 27-21, holding the Ambassadors to 7 points in the final frame. Katie Costello, Soleil Ashley, and Mirelli Fritz once again led the offense, combining for 33 of the team's 46 points.
Following the weekend, the Eagles will play one more game on the road before they play three straight home games to finish January.
UP NEXT: Faith women's basketball heads to Dubuque on Tuesday, January 20th for an MCCC game against Emmaus. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m. CT.
