Following their 3-0 win over CCCB on Friday the Eagles had a quick turnaround to Saturday's first match, but that would not slow them down as Faith took the 3-0 sweep in their North Region match against Trinity. The Eagles ran out to a solid first set win, leading from start to finish while Trinity kept it close throughout. The Lions, however took a quick advantage in the second set and seemed to be on their way to their first win of the day until Faith tied the set at 18-18 and then stormed to the win and the 2-0 lead. From there the Eagles took all of the momentum and made quick work of the third set for their first sweep of the day.
After the break the Eagles finished out Saturday's trimatch against a short-handed Kansas Christian team, with the Falcons only dressing six for the weekend. The Eagles came out well and made quick work of their opponent, earning their second sweep of the day and their third of the weekend. Between their two matches Faith combined for 85 kills, 73 assists, and 112 digs on the day.
The Eagles hit a couple of big milestones on Saturday as their win over Trinity marked Faith volleyball's first 20-win season since 2014, and their first time reaching 20 wins in the regular season in recent history. In their second match of the day, Junior OH Codie Wirges surpassed 1,000 career kills and has moved to #6 on the all-time program leaderboard for career kills.
UP NEXT: Faith volleyball shifts their attention to postseason play, kicking off the MCCC Tournament on Friday, October 31st in Joplin, MO. The Eagles will compete against CCCB in the quarterfinals, time TBD.
