The #2 seeded Eagles took on #3 Barclay in the conference semifinals, taking a 2-1 victory against the Bears.
The Eagles controlled the match early, testing the waters with a couple of quick shots on goal, but Barclay sat back on defense and settled in for the long run. The Bears found themselves on the scoreboard first, earning a PK in the final minutes of the first half and would hold onto the 1-0 lead heading into the break.
The Eagles would not be stopped in their mission to advance, and the second half swung heavily in favor of the #2 seed. Faith scored on the opening drive, as Cody Clark sent a long pass up the field and Austin Lundberg chased it down for an easy 1v1 goal to tie the match at one apiece. The Eagles found the game-winner with 11 minutes to go as noah Blomquist intercepted a pass and sent the ball up the field to Austin Jordan, who found Parker Lundberg on the fly for another 1v1 against the Bears' goalkeeper. Faith saw a couple more scoring opportunities but would not convert and eventually walked away with the 2-1 semifinal victory and a ticket to the Conference championship match against #1 CCCB.
Saturday saw a familiar foe in the Saints, as the teams faced off twice in the regular season with CCCB winning both matches (1-0, 2-1). The Eagles came prepared in their third head to head, and put together a championship-worthy effort in the match. The Saints seemed to control the tempo early, but Faith strung together long possesions through the first 45 minutes. The Eagles held their own despite taking several hard hits early on, and their defense combined with a valiant effort from Zeke Denger in the goal saw the teams head into halftime scoreless.
The match continued in the same manner for most of the second half, and the Eagles nearly scored on a free kick 15 minutes into the half. The Saints marched the ball up the field but Faith drew a foul to win it back. The Eagles free kick was intercepted and CCCB launched a shot from midfield that soared over Denger and into the goal to give the #1 seed a one goal advantage with 30 minutes to go. A sense of urgency picked up for both sides, but despite their best effort, the Eagles would not score and finished the weekend as the MCCC regular season and tournament runner-up.
On Friday, four Eagles were honored with All-Conference awards, as voted on by coaches throughout the MCCC:
Austin Lundberg: 1st Team All-Conference, MCCC MVP
Parker Lundberg: 1st Team All-Conference
Andre Quintana: 1st Team All-Conference
Ian Naughton: 1st Team All-Conference
